ILLAMASQUA ANDROGEN PIGMENT REVIEW

Hi lovelies! I hope you've all had a fab weekend and Happy September! I can't help but be a little excited that it's September, as it's slowly edging towards Autumn, meaning cooler weather and woollier clothing. I just love it when the Autumn comes and I can get out all my jumpers, hats and scarves (or buy lots of new ones), but after Christmas I'm bored of being cold and want summer again, no pleasing us Brits! Anyway, up until now I was an Illamasqua half virgin (I say half virgin because I have owned an Illamasqua product from an old Glossy Box, but it was an emerald green loose shadow/ pigment thing, which never really got used and also because it's a funny Mean Girls quote), so instead of going crazy with my first order, I decided to go for just one item. I figured a cream pigment was a good place to start, as it's a multiple use product (look at me being all savvy) and you can use it on the lips and cheeks (and eye if you like, if coral eyelids are your thing, rock it).

So, as I said, this is a cream pigment, meaning it can be used in a number of ways. I was originally going to go for a cream blush, but then I saw these pigments and thought they were a fab idea. They come in a few colours, many of which are not blush/ lipstick appropriate, but can be used on the eyes too! I chose Androgen as it's a stunning pinky coral shade, the exact shade I go for in lipstick and blush so this was perfect. I often use cream blush as lipstick anyway and this is like a cream blush that's supposed to be used for lipstick, amazing. As it's called a pigment, I don't know if I even need to talk about the pigmentation, but I will anyway as it's bloody fantastic! The term 'you only need a tiny amount' is used very loosely in the bloggers world but holy moly I mean it. I can literally just touch this once and it'll do both cheeks easily. It's pretty easy to blend if you do use a little bit too much, but if you're going to give it a go, definitely go lightly and build up if you need more! I learnt this by getting clown cheeks the first time I used it as I picked up way too much product. So top marks for pigmentation Illamasqua!

The texture of this is really soft and easy to blend, but it dries to a powdery finish on the cheeks and matte on the lips. Though this is very matte, it still feels soft and not at all drying on the lips. It goes on like an absolute dream, I just use my fingers but it glides onto the lips and blends super easily on the cheeks. As for lasting power, this is incredible. The colour lasts better on my lips than any lipstick I have, even the darker ones. I thought as it's not a particuarly dark colour, it probably wouldn't stain my lips and therefore would wear off after a hour or two of wear. Uh, no. I put this on before work at around 7am, got home at about 5:30 and it was still going strong. Seriously impressive! It lasts really well on the cheeks too, I really hate when my blush wears off during the day, as I think colour on your cheeks really lifts the whole face. Well my friends, your face will be lifted all day long with this little beauty (does that make sense? We're gonna go with it).

As you may be able to tell, I can't say enough good things about this product. This is £17.50, but as I said, a little goes such a long way and I can tell it's going to last me such a long time, but I'll definitely be repurchasing (even if it's just to have one in my handbag and one in my makeup bag, don't judge).
So needless to say, I thoroughly recommend this little pot of pretty!

What are your thoughts on this? Do you have any Illamasqua faves? Anything you recommend? Let me know!

  6. I really want to try this, along with their cream pigment in Hollow. I think it's such a gorgeous colour that looks great on lips and cheeks. I also love how compact it is, so you can carry it with you if you need to touch up. I might wait for another Illamasqua sale as they go down to under £10 then.
