FIRST IMPRESSIONS: MANE N' TAIL DEEP MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER

Hello lovelies! I cannot express to you all just how excited I am to be writing this post today. Most of you have probably heard of Mane n' Tail and if you're anything like me, you were probably intrigued and little confused about the hype around horse shampoo. I mean, it's for horses, no matter how many times I'd heard about it, it still just seemed weird. After searching through pages and pages of rave reviews claiming it's a miracle in a bottle, giving you super soft, nourished, long locks, I decided it was finally time to give in to the hype and give the strange products a go.

Searching through several versions of the product on Amazon (who knew horses had so many options?), I decided to go for the 'Deep Moisturizing' version, because who doesn't want their hair to be deeply moisturised? I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure if this may have been reformulated or re-branded to make it seem a bit less weird for use by humans, or if it is actually just a straight up horse shampoo but either way, it definitely seems a little different to anything else I've ever used. I've been using these for about a week so have used them a few times and thought I'd give my first impressions, then perhaps if you guys are interested, I'll do a little update in the future to let you all know if it's helped with the condition long term, or if it really does live up to it's miracle growth claims.

For a start, the packaging, clearly it's nothing to shout about, let's face it, it wouldn't look out of place in a stable (and it wouldn't be out of place either!), but as they say, it's what's inside that counts and with these babies, that is certainly the case. Both the shampoo and conditioner are a bright swimming pool blue colour and are actually strangely quite similar in consistency. The shampoo lathers up really well and makes your hair feel seriously clean as you're washing it and actually does seem to be moisturising on it's own. I can't confirm this, as I've not actually used it alone, but my hair definitely feels smooth in the shower after use. Like I said, the conditioner is a similar consistency and feels quite thin for a conditioner, which initially worried me a bit, as I'm used to thicker conditioners and felt like it maybe wouldn't be as nourishing. How wrong I was! Funnily enough, the instructions said to massaged the conditioner into the roots as well as the ends, which I thought was kind of odd, but as I wanted to give it a fair test, I got on with it anyway and applied the product all over from root to tip and left it for about 3 minutes. Despite what I thought, my hair wasn't even slightly weighed down after blow drying and the difference in my hair was immediately noticeable.

Honestly, I've never been so impressed so quickly with a hair product. After just one use, my hair felt softer and smoother and was shinier than I'm pretty sure it's ever been. Getting shiny hair is a tough battle for us blondies but this fabulous duo make it easy to look as though you've stepped straight off a L'Oreal ad. Not only does it feel and look incredible, but I genuinely think that this is actually already improving the quality of my hair too. When I brush my hair, I get a lot less falling out than I ever used to and it definitely seems to stay nicer between washes. As I wash my hair every other day., my hair usually gets super dry the day after I wash it, rather than getting oily, however with this, my hair seems to stay clean between washes without going dry and frizzy at the ends. Yet another bonus that I've already noticed is that my hair seems to dry quicker too, whether I let it air dry or dry it with the hairdryer, the dry time is definitely much shorter, which I love.

Overall, as you can probably tell, I'm absolutely bowled over by this strange little horsey duo. My hair has genuinely never felt better - if you've been thinking about giving this a go but have even the slightest doubt, try it, I promise you will not regret it!

Let me know your thoughts, would you like an update once I've finished with these bottles? Have you tried Mane n' Tail? I'd love to hear about your experience!

  4. I've heard so many great things about mane and tail, but I think I also heard that it is not actually the real thing as you are only supposed to be able to purchase it from a vet shop or something to that effect. I don't quite remember now, it was over a decade when I heard that. I definitely want to give it a go though.
