If you're anything like me, little things like pretty packaging a cute pastel colours can make even the most basic product seem a lot more fun. So when I was in tescos and in need of a new shower gel, I was immediately drawn to the several shelf of 'Treacle Moon' goodies. While it was a brand I'd seen before. I hadn't seen either of these beauties and after a lot of sniffing and umming and ahhing, I decided that at £2.49 each (usually £2.99), I had no choice but to bring them both home with me (they just look so good together, I couldn't split them up).
After sniffing several scents, I was, as I said, torn between two scents, 'Marsh Mallow Hearts', which smells literally just like marshmallows, with a hint of candy floss (amazing) and 'Sweet Sugared Almond', which smells just like a Bakewell tart! Both are absolutely gorgeous scents, so you can understand why I just couldn't decide! Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that shower gels don't need to be fancy. The scent generally doesn't stay on your skin for too long and as long as it's cleansing, it's doing it's job. However, this doesn't mean that pretty bottles and gorgeous scents should be ignored. These beauties not only look fab on my bathroom shelf, but they also fill the entire room with scent when you use them. While the scent doesn't really linger on your body after use, it definitely does in the bathroom and I absolutely love that.
Of course, we have to discuss the practical bit, do they actually work in terms of cleansing and actually making your body clean? The short answer is yes, they do! The long answer, yes they do and they lather up into a very satisfyingly thick foam, while filling your shower with absolutely delicious scents. They also feel moisturing too, which is great, as so many shower gels can be drying, however these leave my skin feeling soft as well as super clean (and did I mention they smell beautiful too?).
Finally, we can't not talk about the packaging can we? Like I said, these are pretty cheap, their regular price is £2.99 and for that you get a super generous 500ml of product. So, unsurprisingly there are no fancy glass bottles or luxury packaging here, just a basic plastic bottle, but as basic plastic bottles go, these ones are pretty adorable. With pretty pastel colours, cute little images and sweet little mini story's (that, admittedly, don't make a huge amount of sense), on each bottle, they're definitely a welcome addition to my bathroom shelves.
What do you think? Do you enjoy cutesy shower gels like these, or are you more of a basics babe? Let me know your thoughts!
